In Honor of International Women's Day

March 11, 2021

The theme of International Women's Day 2021 is "Choose to Challenge".   The International Women's Day website says. "We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality." The idea was that this year's theme will inspire people to challenge biases, question stereotypes and celebrate the achievements of women around the world. Did you know that the first time it was observed on March 19, 1911, in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland?  The Campaigns across Europe against WWI inspired women in other countries to adopt International Women's Day. In 1913 the observance date was moved to March 8th. The United Nations celebrated International Women's Day for the first time in 1975. As you may know March is Women's History Month in the United States, so many Americans may find themselves celebrating throughout the month of March.

You can find a way to support by "strike the Choose To Challenge pose and share on social media using #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021." The pose is raising your hand high to "show your commitment to choose to challenge inequality, call out bias, question stereotypes, and help forge an inclusive world," the website says.

We have come a long way but still need everyone's support to challenge inequality and identify bias and do something about it!  Women are still facing many challenges today in the workforce We can be stronger together.  If you would like to share your experiences good and bad would love to hear from you!
