How you can Thrive in 2021

January 27, 2021

Even though the calendar says January 2021, we are all still feeling about the same. Unfortunately, many of the struggles we were facing last year we will continue to face this year.  Many of our colleagues are facing the same challenges personally, professionally, nationally, and globally.  We managed to survive 2020.  Some of us even rediscovered ourselves and learned to continue and change how we were doing things. For that we should be thankful.

We are all hopeful that 2021 will be better but we need to have a strategy that will make that dream happen.  There was a great article in Forbes that suggested to plan a few strategies to help us thrive in 2021. It is always wise to be prepared for any challenges that you may face.

  1. Write a Personal Vision Statement – write down a vision statement for yourself, what you want to achieve this year, what do you want to look back at and see what was accomplished, include both professional and personal achievements.  You may choose to also create a vision board if you are artistic.  That is what I choose to do.
  2. Find an Accountability Partner – share your vision with a friend, partner, or co-worker, make sure it is someone that will hold you accountable for it and make you achieve your vision, someone that will motivate you.
  3. Commit to a Community – commit to being more engaged in the community in one way or another, find new ways of surrounding yourself with people that share your passion, even though we are still social distancing you can still participate in activities.
  4. Plan Some Fun – we all need something that makes us smile and laugh, think about taking on a new hobby, or begin a new routine (like walking or yoga), plan a vacation but know that you may need to adjust or reschedule due to COVID but if you don’t start planning it won’t happen.

These four strategies can change the way we personally and professionally navigate this year. It is important we don’t get discouraged, stay focused, and remain positive. I would love to learn more about your strategies to overcome the challenges of 2021.
